    McGregor announces comeback

    March 22, 2024

Former featherweight champion Conor McGregor has finally given an update on when we can expect to see him in the ring. At an interview on Wednesday, McGregor revealed that he would be fighting this summer and indicated that the plan was already in motion, although he did not give any dates or other specifications.

In his words: “The call has been made and we’re a go. This means this summer, the Mac is back. So with I’m happy with my time I’ve got in the lead-up to it, I’m happy with where I’m at, and everything just works out in God’s name. And I’m ecstatic where I’m at. I’ve got great news the other day.”

For some reason, McGregor was being careful not to divulge any details. But from his tone, he seemed sure he would be back on the octagon soon. This is also in contrast to what we have been getting from Dana White, president of the UFC. White had, some weeks back, denied that McGregor would be returning with a fight against Michael Chandler on June 29, and he also was not sure if McGregor would be returning at all.

Having been away for almost three years now, there have been doubts that the Irishman would fight again, but his recent interview has informed the world that we should expect him soon, specifically this summer.

McGregor also spoke about the importance of consistency and mentioned boxers Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker as inspirations for his need to build that consistency. He also touched on the fact that he has not decided which weight he would fight next, admitting that he has not weighed himself since losing to Dustin Poirer before his 2021 ‘retirement.’

Despite the lack of full details and the fact that there’s still a lot to straighten out, McGregor continues training and staying in shape as he gears up towards his next time on the ring.
