    2024 F1 car launch update

    January 5, 2024

With the 2024 season two months away, teams have started giving notice on when they would launch their cars, ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix scheduled for late February. Despite minimal driver movements during the off-season, there is a palpable sense of anticipation for a more competitive field, especially after Max Verstappen and Red Bull’s dominance in the previous year.

One of the key highlights of the pre-season buildup is the launch of the new cars, providing enthusiasts with a glimpse of the technological innovations and design changes that teams have implemented to enhance performance. While Red Bull, the reigning constructors’ champions, is yet to announce a specific car launch date, other teams have started to reveal their plans for the upcoming season.

Mercedes, coming off a winless 2023 campaign, is set to introduce the W15, with expectations of significant changes as they embark on a new chapter. The launch date for the Silver Arrows is yet to be confirmed, adding an element of suspense for fans eager to see the team’s new direction.

Ferrari, aiming to build on their third-place finish in the constructors’ standings, has declared a major overhaul, with approximately 95% of the car being new compared to the previous season. The Scuderia has set a launch date of February 13, generating excitement about the changes that could position them as stronger contenders.

Haas, which finished at the bottom of the Constructors’ Championship, is focusing on addressing issues of high tyre wear with the VF-24. While their launch date is yet to be confirmed, there is anticipation about the changes that could potentially improve their competitive standing.

McLaren, known for their mid-season surge in 2023, has not disclosed a specific launch date yet. The team’s progress and potential improvements will be closely watched as they seek to challenge the front-runners, particularly Red Bull.

Aston Martin, which fiercely contested Red Bull in the early stages of the previous season, will reveal the AMR24 on February 12. With experienced campaigners and a commitment to performance, they aim to make a mark in the upcoming season.

Sauber, now rebranded as Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber ahead of Audi’s takeover in 2026, shares a launch date of February 5 with Williams, marking the beginning of a new era for the team.

The Alpine team, amidst management changes, is yet to confirm its car launch date. As teams prepare for the new campaign, the changes in leadership and strategic decisions will be closely observed.

Williams, coming off their best season since 2017, has set a launch date for February 5, providing an early look at their aspirations for the upcoming season. The team aims to build on the momentum of 2023 and continue their upward trajectory.

AlphaTauri, undergoing a rebranding with a modified team name, is expected to announce both the car launch and the actual team name in due course.
