Tyrrell Hatton moves to LIV League

    January 31, 2024

Tyrrell Hatton has officially joined the Saudi-backed LIV Golf League and has immediately formed a key partnership with Ryder Cup teammate Jon Rahm. Hatton, known for his notable performances on both the PGA Tour and DP World Tour, is set to bring his seasoned skills to Rahm’s ‘Legion XIII’ team for the upcoming 2024 season, which tees off in Mexico.

Rahm, who joined the LIV League towards the end of last year in a deal reportedly worth almost half a billion dollars, was very key in getting Hatton to join the league. Just like Rahm, Hatton is still eligible to take part in DP World Tour events, as they are still members. This means, barring any change later this year, both players could be part of Twam Europe at this year’s Ryder Cup.

Expressing his anticipation for the upcoming chapter, Hatton stated, “I’m really excited for this next chapter, to team up with Jon Rahm and Legion XIII, and to kick off the season this week in Mexico.” This sentiment echoes not only Hatton’s enthusiasm for this new partnership but also speaks to the level of competitiveness we are about to witness in the LIV League soon.

Alongside Hatton, the Legion XIII roster includes Kieran Vincent, who emerged through the LIV Golf Promotions event in December, and American Caleb Surratt, a member of Team USA’s winning Walker Cup team last year.

Rahm, commenting on the team composition, stated, “Tyrrell is a fierce competitor, proven champion, and, of course, my Ryder Cup teammate. Caleb is one of the brightest next-gen stars of the game. And Kieran is a steady, talented ball striker who earned his promotion to LIV and is elevating his game every day.”

As LIV Golf continues to absorb more players, Rahm acknowledged the progress made, saying, “We’ve come a long way and are immensely proud of the team and brand we are building.” This move falls in line with Hatton’s impressive start to the year, marked by back-to-back top-15 finishes on the PGA Tour.
