Kvaratskhelia not ready for Barca move next summer

    March 30, 2024

Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will likely remain at Napoli beyond the summer.

As a way of the club, he might have to sign a contract extension that will include a release clause.

Kvaratskhelia, who helped Georgia qualify for the European Championship for the first time, is still committed to the Naples club till 2027.

According to Gazzetta, Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis is ready to meet with his representative to offer an improved deal.

This could end up like the way of Victor Osimhen, who ended up signing a new deal after being linked with top clubs in Europe.

Having been an essential part of Napoli’s set-up, Kvaratskhelia has been linked with a move to Barcelona.

Meanwhile, his agent was spotted in the capital of Catalunya when the Partenopei met the Blaugrana in the Champions League Round of 16 earlier in March. This could be an indication that there will be talks now.

Gazzetta further reported that the winger is keen to remain at the club for at least another season to complete his development, with his father and agent sharing the same view.

This means there will be further incentives to his €1.5m-a-year deal at the Stadio Maradona. Gazzetta reported that Napoli are ready to offer a new deal until 2028 or 2029 worth at least €4.5m per season, including add-ons.

What’s left is for the two parties to discuss financial details and a release clause that will likely be included in his new contract.

Meanwhile, the Georgian won’t be available for the Serie A game against Atalanta after Napoli diagnosed him with an adductor muscle contracture.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the Georgia international suffered a muscle injury during Georgia’s win over Greece that secured their historic European Championship qualification.

Kvara has been diagnosed with an adductor injury, as confirmed by Napoli in an official statement on Thursday.
