Endrick says he can’t stop thinking about debut goal

    March 25, 2024

If anyone were to imagine the difference maker before Saturday’s friendly clash between England and Brazil at Wembley, only a few would stick to youngster and teenager Endrick to score the winner in a match involving some of the biggest football stars in the world.

Brazil faced England in the first of their two international friendlies in the March window, with the South Americans set to face Spain on Tuesday ahead of summer’s Copa America.

The first half ended with both sides’ level, although West Ham-based Lucas Pacqueta hit the woodwork, which was the closest any of the two teams came to scoring in the first half.

Seventeen-year-old Endrick’s third senior international appearance came as a substitute at Wembley, and he was able to tap in late in the second half to secure a win for Brazil.

The Real Madrid-bound player is ecstatic about his first international goal, making him the youngest goalscorer in a senior international game at Wembley Stadium.

“I’m still getting my head around it. I think it cost me a bit in the end when I had the chance to score again. I can’t lie: I couldn’t stop thinking about the goal. It is a unique feeling. I used to play video games. I would play as Brazil in career mode. I remember playing here at Wembley in the game and scoring. That came into my head, and I kept thinking about it. I couldn’t concentrate on the game. It’s a unique memory. My family is here, my girlfriend, my agents… I’m not the kind of person who cries often, but I’m holding it back now. I’m really happy.” Endrick said.

Endrick will join Real Madrid in the summer when he turns eighteen, as the Los Blancos have paid a staggering €60m to Palmerias for his services ahead of the 2024/2025 season.
