Barcelona Face Valencia in Matchday 9 of La Liga Football

    October 15, 2021

Barcelona will host Valencia when the La Liga returns on Saturday at the Camp Nou with hope to returning to wnning ways.

The two side have had a poor run of form this season before the international break with Barca failing to score in their last two games including a 2-0 loss to Atletico Madrid and 3-0 defeat to Benfica in the UEFA Champions League.

Valencia also are winless in their last four La Liga games played so far including losses to Real Madrid and Sevilla while holding Atletico Bilbao and Cadiz to draws before the break.

Barcelona were boosted with the return of Ansu Fati from a long term injury as they plan for life with him and Pedri as the major players and faces of the Barcelona project.

This has made the Catalonia side sign a contract extension with Pedri with a buy-out clause of €1Billion and a contract until the summer of 2026.

Furthermore, summer signing Sergio Aguero was on target in a practise match on Wednesday, as he continues his return from injury.

The Argentine, who joined from Manchester City alongside Eric Garcia in the summer, is yet to make his debut for the Catalonia side due to injury.

Meanwhile, Ronald Koeman is under pressure to turn Barca back to winning ways as Barcelona are winless in the UEFA Champions League and sits 9th in the La Liga even behind their weekend opponents based on goals difference.

In other La Liga matches at the weekend, Real Sociedad face Mallorca and Levante hosts Getafe.

Rayo Vallecano host Elche while Celta Vigo and Sevilla will play each other. Alaves will play Real Betis and Espanyol will host Cadiz. Unai Emery’s side Villareal will host Osasuna.

Real Madrid vs. Ath. Bilbao and Granada vs. Atletico Madrid hace been postponed. Both games postponed because of players returning late from South American teams.
