Fury vs. KSI: Fury wins via points

    October 16, 2023

Tommy Fury secured a majority decision win over KSI in their controversial unsanctioned boxing event. The six-round fight featured limited action, with both fighters spending significant time locked in a clinch without inflicting much damage.

For many people, the fight was quite stale, with almost no significant piece of action happening throughout. At the end of the day, the judges’ scores came in at 57-56, 57-56, and 57-57, narrowly awarding the victory to Fury.

After the match, Fury talked about the effort he put in, saying, “I fought my heart out in there. That’s all you can do. I said from day one there will never be another Tyson Fury. I’m just trying to be the best Tommy Fury I can be. He’s very awkward, but at the end of the day, we got the victory.” He also stated that he was done doing crossover events and would stick solely to professional boxing now.

Fury’s opponent, KSI, was furious with the decision, especially after Fury lost a point in the second round for repeated blows to the back of the head. KSI complained about the repeated fouls, which he claimed continued throughout the fight, yet the referee only penalized Fury once.

KSI described the decision as a “robbery” and expressed his intent to appeal, stating, “How many jabs did you land? You weren’t landing. Look at your face; look at your eyes. I want to appeal. That is outrageous. I felt like I won that.”

The fight pitted Fury’s boxing skills against KSI’s unorthodox tactics. While KSI managed to land a hard right hand early in the first round, Fury struggled to establish a rhythm against his unpredictable opponent.

When not in the clinch, KSI charged forward to land big shots, while Fury attempted to counter. Each exchange followed a similar pattern, with Fury throwing punches, KSI retaliating, and both fighters getting tied up again.

Although Fury was considered the superior boxer, he struggled to connect effectively, and KSI did just enough to match him in most of the exchanges. The fight remained close until the end, with the judges’ scores reflecting the tight contest.

This is Fury’s second victory this year after defeating Jake Paul back in February. However, it remains uncertain whether he will consider a rematch with Paul or KSI following these performances. And after his vow not to take on any more crossover events, it seems Fury may stick to fighting ‘actual’ boxers and even aim for a title shot soon.
