I don’t know when that door will close, but I don’t have much time left – LeBron James opens up on his retirement after scoring 40 against Nets

    April 2, 2024

LeBron James is aging like fine wine. James, 39, is still producing the goods for the Los Angeles Lakers but he feels he doesn’t have a lot of fuel left in his old tank.

James, who is playing his 21st NBA season, scored a season-high 40 points against the Brooklyn Nets and also tied his career-high with nine three-pointers. Ergo, James played a key role in the Lakers’ 116-104 win on Sunday night.

“Not very long, I’m not going to play another 21 years, that’s for damn sure,” James said after he had one of the best shooting nights of his illustrious career, going 9 for 10 behind the arc to tie his career high for 3-pointers. “I don’t know when that door will close, but I don’t have much time left.”

James added he works hard on fine-tuning his craft to get the best out of himself.

“I put in a lot of time working on my craft,” James said.

Furthermore, Anthony Davis added 24 points and 14 rebounds, and Rui Hachimura had 20 points and 10 rebounds. On the other hand, Cam Thomas top-scored for the Nets with 30 points but lauded James for his brilliant show.

“But can’t do nothing when somebody hits 9 for 10 from 3,” Thomas said. “Made every 3 he put up so it’s tough, but I feel like we played really well second through the fourth. It was just the first quarter was pretty tough on us, starting off that slow,”

The Lakers will hope that James keeps delivering like this for them at this crucial stage of the NBA. Darvin Ham’s team will next take on the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday.
